Ok. it’s not quite that but with the excitement that everyone’s been feeling for the first ever performance in St. Vincent and the Grenadines by London-born, Vincy-grown super-star Marlon Roudette, it might as well be called that. With hit singles such as Big City Life, New Age and When The Beat Drops Out, this cultural Ambassador (he has the diplomatic passport to prove it) is ever present on stage with his steel-pan and his Vincy flag, often fueling a feeling of pride and patriotism for Vincentians in St. Vincent and the Grenadines as well as the Diaspora. One of us but not fully ours, Marlon’s fan-base is global with huge followings throughout Europe. Whether he’s rubbing shoulders with industry colleagues at the recent Gumball 3000 Rally, performing on stage in front of a plethora of fans or busy in the studio laying down fire tracks- this son of the soil completely agrees that there’s no better thing than riding home.
So what songs do you listen to if you’ve been living under a rock and have never heard of Marlon Roudette? Here are a few of my faves. Please note that this list isn’t exhaustive…every single one of his albums is worth a place in your music collection.
