“Welcome à la Maison”, the first tradeshow dedicated to seasonal hosts that provide private or shared accommodation for tourists. The tradeshow will be held on Saturday the 7th of October 2017, in Martinique, French Caribbean.
The event is aimed at those who accommodate tourists: rooms, villas, furnished properties, apartments, bed and breakfasts owners and project initiators.
A day entirely devoted to expertise and training
Seasonal rentals are on the rise in Martinique with now 1/3 of tourists holidaying with homeowners. This offer is a supplement to the already existing hotel accommodation, particularly during high season, and gives visitors a large choice of places to sojourn. At the same time, the number of rentals has increased.
In 2017, Martinique was able to provide 4,000 beds (source: Martinique Tourism Board). However, the processes are poorly structured and players are singularly lacking information, advice and feedback.
Airbnb among keynote speakers
Conferences, workshops and individual meetings will be organized around four main themes:
• Financing (subsidies, public aid, business plan …)
• Legal / administrative (rules and regulations, statutes …)
• Marketing (social networks, online platforms…)
• Quality / environment (labels, sustainable approaches…).
Participants will be able to share ideas with specialists from different areas of expertise, carefully selected for their ability to find solutions to problems faced by small structures: Airbnb will share data about the typical traveler profile using the platform, the accounting firm Jock will discuss the financial aspects of seasonal rentals, Assurance Outremer will cover matters relating to property protection and finally Finouss Design will focus on interior layouts.
Giving homeowners the opportunity to discuss with peers
Because “Welcome à la Maison” is designed for those who welcome holidaymakers, it’s essential to be able to collect their reviews. Hosts will take the floor: Gîtes de Martinique, Domaine des Bulles, Villa Sirène and guest house Apolline.
“We want to make Welcome à la Maison the new reference seasonal hosts” says Madly SCHENIN-KING, company Director of MAJORINE, and event organizer. “The timing for this event is not accidental as it will take place just before the high season. The objective is for participants to leave equipped and informed in order to satisfy the visitors they will receive. We are convinced that if quality rises, the whole destination will benefit from it.”
