Damian Marley Wins Best Reggae Act at MOBO Awards

Damian Marley walked away with the MOBO Award for “Best Reggae Act” on November 29, 2017.

The MOBO – Music of Black Origin – Awards was established in 1996 to recognize artistes of any ethnicity or nationality performing music related to the black culture.

This is the second time that Marley, the youngest son of reggae legend Bob Marley, has won the award. He first won in 2005.

Other nominees in the category this year were Aidonia, Alkaline, Chronixx and Popcaan, who took the trophy in 2016 and 2015.

Marley and Chronixx are both nominees in the Best Reggae Album Grammy category. The awards are to be announced and presented at Madison Square Gardens in New York City in January, 2018.

The 22nd staging of the event took place at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.
